I've just heard Heroes star Hayden Panettiere's new song Wake Up Call. (With a voice reminiscent of Amy Winehouse, who knew she was so multi-faceted?) Now call me old fashioned, but there's something about an 18 year old girl, famous for playing innocent female characters - among others the voice of the animated Cinderella, singing about having to give her boyfriend a "wake up call" that doesn't sit right with me. To quote the lyrics: "I think I'm gonna have to cheat, to keep your eyes on me, cos maybe if I make you jealous, you'll finally start to wake up."
The song, with its catchy tune and even catchier lyrics, will probably soon be hitting the top 40 charts, and preteen female fans all around the world will be singing along to it. It's all part of that wonderful marketing engine that is Hollywood. Sex sells everything, so why not expand the buying audience?
Check out the song for yourself.
