On top of the Vector Arena carpark. Doesn't sound like the most obvious place for a fashion show, especially from Kirsha Whitcher of Salasai; a young designer who's only shown once before at Air New Zealand Fashion Week, (after all, 90% of designers show onsite at the Fashion Week venue), but I'm not going to complain, I love a bit of variety.
The above photo is an interior shot of Salasai's Vector carpark venue. It's a room the size of Fashion Week's Shed 1, built on top of the five storey carpark.
So why go offsite? Sponsorship it seems; Jeep has come on board to sponsor Salasai's show, and with Audi being the vehicle sponsor of Fashion Week, other car companies aren't allowed to display their cars onsite. The same probably goes for Zambesi, Stolen Girlfriends Club, Huffer and Karen Walker, who are sponsored by VW, Mini, Porsche and Lexus respectively, and are all showing offsite. A fashion show is an expensive beast, so designers have to offer their sponsors everything they can, and with vehicle sponsors that typically means having their vehicles onsite at the show.
At the end of the day it's all dolla dolla bills ya'll. Show onsite and pay for it yourself, or go offsite and be helped along the way. I know which one I'd choose.

I personally won't go to this show as i am not convinced with what Salasai designer did last year.
Couldn't think of anything worse then 1) owning a Jeep & 2) watching a show in a carpark
Anon #2: If you knew how much it actually cost to put on a fashion show, I think you'd be happy to have a sponsor help you with it. And, I'd guess that you'd be happy to agree to their terms and conditions - even if that might showing in a car-park. ;)
