#294 The Ash and Eliza Show Part II

screengrab - models.com

Remember Ash and Eliza? Those lovable rogues interviewed by industry authority models.com on the pitfalls of not being able to get into bars underage in the United States. Well they've just reappeared on models.com, this time in a highly erotic – bordering on the pornographic – shoot for the cover of Dazed&Confused. But wait, I almost forgot. It can't be pornography, it's fashion! In the shot, Ash is depicted in underpants pulled down to reveal a nude posterior, with pelvis pressed firmly against Eliza, who is naked apart from a pair of tights.

WARNING: This image is NSFW.

The pair (and former couple), both repped by Select in London, were sent over to New York to be sold as a package deal, as seen here on the COACD blog.

Here's what models.com had to say about the cover:

"Sex, Rock, controversy and plenty of in your face attitude? It’s just another day in the life for Ash Stymest & Eliza Cummins. Who could forget the brash young upstarts who exploded on the scene earlier this year with their own special brand of punk cool? If your memory needs refreshing check out their now infamous MDC special for a look into why their authentic insouciance is so coveted.

The dynamic duo now graces the cover of the March issue of Dazed and Confused with an image that is bound to set tongues wagging. Shot by Mariano Vivanco and styled by Nicola Formichetti the cover is a daring salute to non-conformity and is sure to fly off newsstands."

But not everybody seems impressed. Comments on the models.com entry include this one from someone calling themselves Joy:

"how predictable!
Select sells them as a pair, Dazed shoots them as a pair
Nicola shoots a boy, his bum is out
child porno meets predictable tit waxing shite!
i’ve just been sick in my mouth"

I don't consider myself to be a prude, but at what point do we decide enough is enough? Surely a couple of teenagers on the cover of a magazine basically simulating a sex act in the name of fashion is heading in that direction?

As long as both of them are age 16+, I don't really see that the big deal is. If they're younger than that though, well, then it was done in questionable taste and judgement. However, while the shot is sexual in nature, I'd hardly call it "kiddie porn", as it's done rather artistically - I'm not saying that I actually like it though.

Everybody knows that lots of teens are having sex anyway. And, every good marketeer knows that "sex sales". It always has, and, it always will. ;)

For the record, to the best of my knowledge both models are 17.

Yes, I was just going by models.com and now they're calling her Cummins. Must have been wrong in the first place.
