I missed it last night, but thanks to one conscientious person I managed to catch the whole first episode of New Zealand's Next Top Model online this morning. So what did everybody think? My immediate reaction was 'Ahhhhh the accents! Not the accents!' Being a longtime fan of America's Next Top Model I've gotten so used to hearing the American accents on the show, so I found it a little difficult adjusting to girls saying "Hoi Oi'm going to be New Zild's next top moDEL!"

Sara Tetro did an admirable job as the show's host, she is one tough lady and I reckon she could give Tyra a run for her money in the ferocity stakes. Colin Mathura-Jeffrees is like a mashup of the two Jays, but I'd like to see him camp it up a bit more. Chris Sisarich is the Nigel Barker/nice guy of the bunch, and I'm sure the girls will appreciate him more and more as the show goes on.
So what about the girls? My picks at this stage are Christobelle and already established model Rebecca Rose (represented by August Models and Talent). But only time will tell who will stay in the running to becoming.... New Zild's... Next... Top... ModEL!

My picks defiantly Rebecca Rose! She is B E A U T I F U L !!!! Christabelle is stunning too :) TV3 has done a great job of the show. Considering the budget is teeny tiny compared to America's and Australia's too, it makes me proud to be a NZer...even with thee accents

Where the heck do they get these drab girls from, honestly! but flip, half my facebook list is more attractive than this bunch, not to be a hater... Rebecca Rose is a sweetie so thats my pick. I have a friend who was meant to be in the house but she cant be bothered modelling and it's funny because they were begging her to be on it because they knew she would win. They pick the eliminations; 2 sessions ahead. It's all a scam.

This country seems to be really good at taking internationally successful shows, ripping out the glamor, and making them the most embarrassing representations of NZ's talent. Why didn't we learn from New Zealand idol?
The producers realise they have very little beauty to work with and have resorted to angling the show completely around tears, bitchiness, and scandal.
Tyra would be ashamed.
I thought I read somewhere that girls who were already signed up with agencies could not enter?
I was surprised by the quality of the production of the show itself and I'm a fan of the Tretronator.

You can't alway believe what the media puts. I have inside info that Rebecca Rose is not with August models and Talant that they have not taken her off their website. She does not have an agency.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Rebecca Rose works in Overland Queen st and i saw her working there today, so unless the whole series has finished being filmed she is already out...
According to one NZ Network viewable FB profile, Rebecca Rose has already been kicked out.

Rebecca Rose has done numerous shows icluding Sera lilly and Laurie foon and Starfish. She is also the model for Sera lilly lookbook for this winter.

Rebecca Rose has already been represented by two agencies. Let's be honest, if she was going to make it, she would have by now.
My money is on Christobelle.
Rebecca Rose is hardly undiscovered but being with an agency and having an agency represent you is two very different things. As she is a friend of mine I know that her previous agency was when she lived in Wellington and was about 12 y/o. Hardly counts does it, and financial disputes with August meant that she was only with them for about 2 months. I think that it is great that she put herself out there and a big congrats to her!
I never got the race car driver comment, driving around at 200 and even 300 km/h is A LOT more difficult and harder to pick up than walking in heels. I mean you have seen those Russian girls! hardly comparable to our own Brendan Hartley or Scott Dixon whom have spent countless hours since the age of about seven training to be professional racing drivers and perfecting their skill!
In the herald on Sunday gossip section they said that Hosanna, Tiffany and Lucy were the finalists, flown to LA.

has the whole show already finished filming or what? is there a few weeks lag or something? because some people say they have seen rebecca rose and i saw lucy down in dunedin 2 days ago..yet currently she is still a model on the show? hope that doesn't mean shes already been kicked out because she was my fav. =)
