#546 New Zealand's Next Top BFFs

Image /TV3

The dream might be over for 12 of 13 unsuccessful New Zealand's Next Top Model hopefuls (inside sources tell me the winner was contacted last night), but that doesn't mean that the former contestants can't still get together for a catch up now that the cameras have stopped rolling. I just received this message from my friend Katie May who works at Grey Lynn cafe Occam (see below).

"Isaac! Today Teryl Leigh (plus one of her spawn) Ruby, Rebecca Rose and Victoria were at Occam. The angels cried tears of joy, unicorns stampeded through Grey Lynn and my life became complete. My thoughts on each one - Teryl Leigh is stunning in a commercial/nikki phillips sense and was also the tallest of the group; Ruby is freakin' luminescent and has a kinda Jessica Stam/catlike quality to her face. Amazing skin! She's also not the chunker she's made out to be either - from what I could see was the same size as RR. I don't know whether I didn't notice it before or if she's lost weightt since filming wrapped but Victoria is INSANELY skinny - like, thinner than most working models in NZ. She is probably the most beautiful in the flesh though - really fine features and big (blue?) eyes. Sigh."

I LIKE YOU!

A wrap party was my presumption too - or possibly up here to film the finale?? Teryl leigh's kid was sooooo cute - even though he managed to smash cookies all over the floor.

Common misconception, I can not read minds, I can see the future.

I'm thinking full day Live Blog on Friday, then giant party afterwards, hopefully with some of the contestants if we can wing it.

Keen??

I work in Newmarket so I see quite a few of them around. Laura is gorgeous and tall in life- very modelesque, while Victoria was surprisingly tall but with very beautiful face and sweet smile. Haha and Colin looked fantabulous the other day walking past in an all-black skinny outfit and voluminous hair.

Oh, amendment: Victoria was surprisingly short I meant!

Yeah Coco, I agree. Victoria was definitely shortest of the group - it actually took me a while to realise it was her.

I wonder if they enjoyed the service at Occam complete with staff spying on them (or blatantly gawping?) before making notes and passing judgements on their appearance that would then be published online?

I'd assume seeing as they're demi-celebs they'd love as much attention as can be thrown their way.

Wouldn't you?

I don't think anybody signs onto a reality TV show without wanting to be in the spotlight.

Let's be real here people!

Sadly Anonymous, given I was behind a coffee machine for the duration of their visit, I wasn't really in the correct line of vision for much gawking, let alone spying. I did however notice them when they walked in as I do most customers (a group of models is also pretty hard to miss) any yup, then knowing who they were I also watched them leave...as did most everyone else in the place, as I'm sure people on the the street and those in the surrounding shops. Why? Because we could.
These ladies signed up for a reality show that has been played in thousands of living rooms over the past however many weeks. Thus they also signed up to become (for now) a point of national fascination. If they didn't want the attention and instant notoriety they could have quietly trotted themselves off to an agency and slowly built up a career from there. They didn't.
I would hardly say I was judging either - all of them are lovely looking and that was pointed out above account. Victoria is very skinny but given she is an aspiring model the fact is hardly going to do her a disservice.
Oh,and I think the service was pretty good thank you very much.
Peace. x

Isaac I totally agree. As I'm in mourning from Ruby's departure I wouldn't mind a live blog for the whole day leading up to the show. We need to find out who Eleanor is from last week's live blog and get her to MAKE Christobelle be in this week's live blog. Hope she said hello to her from me. Oh and I almost forgot, got the D-E-N-Y from Ruby on Facebook :( Oh well!
