I'm no mathematician so I'm not going to try and work out a successful-model-per-capita statistic, but in my estimation, despite being a small country, New Zealand doesn't seem to churn out a whole bunch of international standard high fashion male models. Rugby players, yes, male models, no. I mean look at a country like Denmark - similar size population, almost entirely surrounded by water - and they've produced some of the biggest guys of the last couple of years - Matthias Lauridsen, Eddie Klint... It's like you'd trip over in Copenhagen and land on a pile of guys who could book a fragrance campaign. But not New Zealand.
Right now we've got Michael Whittaker working regularly, this guy Peter David (who I'd never heard of until the other day), and Vinnie Woolston - who, according to 62 Models, is "hopefully" going to Europe for the upcoming show season. So imagine my surprise when I found out yesterday (thanks to James) that Ford/V Man finalist Aiden Andrews comes from our very own little slice of paradise. Yes, I mean Auckland. The 20 year old was named one of models.com's top ten break out stars of the F/W 09/10 New York show season, where he walked for Richard Chai, Rag & Bone, Tim Hamilton, Band of Outsiders, and Marc by Marc Jacobs.
I've sent him an email to try and find out what his deal is, I'll update with more facts as they come in. Until then, you'll have to make do with a whole bunch of his pictures (below).

If you read very closely, you'll see it says 'Auckland, New Zealand' as his hometown.

I LIKE YOU!

Vinnie Woolston should have gone back along time ago? What's been going on? Is he going? Have not seen or head nothing of him apart from Black mag... what a waste he could have been making some money
visa probs....
He's almost to old anyway!!??
@last Anon - I don't think Vinnie is too old, he was in London last year and shot some amazing editorial alongside models like Josh Beech and Ash Stymest. I'm fairly sure he was a favourite of Nicola Formichetti's. Nobody said anything about his age.
Last year........ The Truth About Modeling? Next next next.....
If he had of stayed who knows? It will be interesting to see what happens when he goes back? Is he going back? what has he done in NZ anyway??
what has he done in almost a year? Apart from Black?
What do you about this Isaac?
i was in london with vinny last year and he was doing amazingly well, was a fit model for mulberry and had mario testino dying to shoot him.
hes just not passionate about modelling and couldnt really care less about the fashion industry, he hated london and just wanted to get back home to raglan to the beach and his dog where he is a hundred times happier. sucks for the fashion industry but if he doesnt enjoy it whats the point really?
Don't forget Ryan Cooper and Jasper Seven who have been working well overseas
vinnie is completely amazing!
wow those cheek bones!
Hey Isaac! Why dont you do a thing on Vinnie so people can see what he has done??
Isaac, keep us up to date on Aiden Andrews and what he has going in Paris and Milan. Thanks!
Will do!
I've only just discovered Vinnie Woolston and I know nothing about him. He really is very appealing!!Please, got any details?
Hey anon - I just posted this new editorial of his last night: http://www.isaaclikes.com/2009/06/589-vinnie-woolston-you-asked-for-it.html
Yes thank you. I saw that on Sunday in the magazine. T'was my baptism! But what about some biographical details? His career, interests, blah. People mentioned something about him being 'too old'. How old IS that?
Here's what I know:
Vinnie is about 22 and he's from a small West Coast surf town named Raglan.
He's been modelling at least since 2004 which is when I first saw him.
He's repped by 62, Priscillas and FM.
he's done lots of Zambesi campaigns, Nom D, heaps of international editorial including work styled by Nicola Formichetti.
Oh and he skateboards.
That's all I know!
Thanks. I like to put a life to a face! Is 22 deemed too old these days?
He's 24 not 22.
Are you able to keep us updated on Vinnie? Where he is , what he's doing. How else are we to stalk the man? *god help me* !!! LOL (I think)
Aiden Andrews is originally from Auckland, but grew up int he US. See the attached web link for a story about him from his local hometown paper.
