#570 Paris Menswear F/W 09/10 video highlights

I was browsing through iPhoto yesterday and came across a whole bunch of videos that I shot while at the Paris shows in January. Why I never posted them at the time is entirely beyond me, if I'd been clever, I would have rushed home at the end of each day and done a daily highlights video. We live and learn. So I edited it all together last night and added a couple of songs by Kid Cudi and Wu Tang, and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. In it you'll find: Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Kris Van Assche, Ann Demeulemeester, Raf Simons, Dries Van Noten and Jean Paul Gaultier, with cameos from John Galliano, Kanye West, Marc Jacobs and an opera singing cameraman.

I LIKE YOU!

I was pretty disappointed with Paris Menswear Fashion Week Fall 09 really. I was even disppointed with Kenzo and they're one of my favorite design houses. However, I did like some of what Hermes, Raf Simons and Hugo Boss did. And, I've never really been a fan of any of them.

Walter Van Beirendonck just took it too damned far with colour, and forms, even for me. And, everybody else just focused too much on black - you know how I feel about that. ;)

I know a lot of people rave about Gareth Pugh. However, I just don't see it! All he did was reference the Hellraiser movies costumes and twist them a bit. So, I don't really think his work is as innovative and progressive as some people give it credit for. When I look at Pugh's stuff, I just see the usual fashion freak-show nonsense, that gets dragged out year after year by certain designers as "avant-garde". And, even in my darkest hour, his stuff would not be something I'd ever want to wear.
