#659 Breakfast chats with your mate

Screengrab /TVNZ

I woke up at 6am this morning - better early than late, but no matter what happens or what time I have to be somewhere, I never manage to walk out the door until five minutes before I'm due. I left the house at 7:55am, drove the short distance to TVNZ, got out to pay for parking and of course the machine was broken. I had to run 100 metres down the road to pay at another meter. I made it into the building at 8:03am and went straight into makeup where I chatted with a Romanian lady while the makeup artist made me look all pretty like. I sat in the green room for a few minutes then went in and did my bit. So just in case you missed it this morning, here's the interview I did with Alison Mau (not Paul Henry as I previously blogged) on TVNZ's Breakfast. I managed to send a few Twitpics while I was in the building, you can see them here, here and here. All in all it was a bit nervy but lots of fun - my one regret is that I sat within a metre of my hero Paul Henry and didn't talk to him once! Also I had planned to say thanks to Telecom XT for giving me the BlackBerry and covering my data usage and roaming charges while I was away but I didn't get the chance, so let me just say thank you very much Telecom - I couldn't have done it without you.

Oh and last thing - I'm pretty sure I freaked Alison Mau out with my whole getting-into-shows vacant-look-face haha.

I LIKE YOU!

Hi Isaac,
I've been following your blog for a while now, and I must say, I think it's fabulous. You really do give the reader a very unique experience, and allow them to see it all first hand. Great posts, great interview...!

"Also I had planned to say thanks to Telecom XT for giving me the BlackBerry and covering my data usage and roaming charges while I was away but I didn't get the chance."

You actually thought of plugging Telecom on media outlets resulting from your Fashion Week coverage? Is that part of the deal you have with them?

self-funding it?

Hi Amber, thanks very much!

First anon - Telecom gave me a BlackBerry and covered my international roaming costs and data usage so I wanted to thank them for their support. I have no 'plugging' obligation to them though.

Second anon - yes, my trip was self-funded. I paid for my flights, hotels etc.

Why is Paul Henry your hero?
I'm not being mean, I'm just super confused (and curious) as to what attributes you see in him...

Congratulations Isaac. Good interview. I followed you each day of your trip and found your whole experience fascinating. You report with sincerity and come across as very genuine. I wish you the best of luck, name in bright lights, blah, blah. It's great to see people doing what they love. Carry on!

Hi Mathew, I like it how Paul Henry is a bit mad and will say the first thing that pops into his mind no matter what it might be. And I like it how he's kind of grumpy all the time. I think he's absolutely hilarious - the best broadcaster in the country alongside John Campbell.

Thanks Leonie I really appreciate it!

Ohhh look at you on NZ national TV. Glad to see media finally paying attention to bloggers. Bet you're hating being home to a NZ winter though :)

I saw this! Your 'this is how you get into shows vacant' face was pure brilliance. Me and my flatmate have been trying to immitate it for the whole day but with no success and am now addicted to your blog.

Hey Rocco haha thanks I'm glad my face amuses you.

Graig - I wanted to visit you on Saturday but Dad didn't feel like shopping. You know what he's like.

haha, your transition from normal face to vacant 'don't look at me' face was brilliant, that's a good convo starter. i share your love of paul henry also, for the same reasons.

I watched you this morning and I think it was really cool, incredible how a blogger can have little space on TV here, I am Italian and up there they don't notice bloggers or web-writers.

Nice blog, bookmarked!

I love Paul Henry for how he isn't scared of not being p.c and isn't completely sterile onscreen like most other presenters - can you set up and interview with him? That would be amazing!

Hey Issac! You and the ole blog are definitely gaining momentum, you thoroughly deserve all the praise that comes with it! At least I can say I was on here before most other people! Oh you haven't heard if CBelle has gone to the States yet? If you have fill us in on how she's going! BTW Hosanna is in Spy mag every week doing something!
