#722 It's my jam by Jordan Rondel - Collagen Water and other lip plumping techniques

A few friends and I went to Don Don Rikka the other night for dinner. It's a cute little Japanese restaurant in Short Street, Newmarket. Besides the delightful food and authentic Japanese setting, the cool thing about Don Don Rikka is that it's the only stockist in New Zealand of this bizarre drink called Gyugyutto Shimikomu - aka Collagen Water. I saw it on the drinks menu and had to get one to try. The passion-peach flavour was delicious, but I wondered what on Earth it's good for. After a bit of research I discovered that the drink contains 2800 milligrams of collagen, making it the latest in a range of cosmeceutical breakthroughs. Collagen, you see, is responsible for skin strength and elasticity. Apparently after drinking a bottle of Gyugyutto Shimikomu your skin will glow and fine lines will be reduced. I don't think I can really believe what it promises (and at my age I probably don't need to), but it's worth a try. A bottle a day might keep the lines away?

And for plumper lips...

On the topic of cosmetic fads, here's a tip for sultry lips. I've discovered that rubbing a dried chili on your lips draws blood into them making them red and plump. I did it the other night when I went out and although my lips were on fire, I was pleased when I looked in the mirror to see that they were noticeably more juju than usual. Be careful not to kiss anyone though or you'll leave them in pain.

I LIKE YOU!

They also sell the one where you pop the top and a marble drops down, sitting in the bottleneck cavity. Can't remember what it's called though...

You should try the Japan Mart just off Khyber Pass for these and other interesting drinks!
