Derek Blasberg is a bit of a hero of mine. I like how he writes, I like how successful he's been and I like how he's done it all at such a young age (he's 27). I began following Blasberg's tweets during Paris Menswear and they kept me constantly entertained on the bus between shows. He parties with stars and appears to lead a charmed existence of dinners, events and first class travel. No doubt there's quite a lot of work thrown in along the way as editor-at-large of style.com, Harper's Bazaar, V and VMan, but he makes it all seem so effortless. Just yesterday he was in Turkey tweeting poolside with Jefferson Hack, Gareth Pugh, Daphne Guiness and Terence Koh. I don't know where he finds the energy. Anyhow, he tweeted this morning that he was going to the Christian Dior show today, so I made it my mission to meet him. Then he tweeted that he was having a book signing at Colette this afternoon. I dropped everything and ran.
Milla Jovovich - unbelievable in the flesh.
Held on the top floor, the first person I ran into was Tim Blanks who was just on his way out after dropping by to say hello. I bought a copy of Classy: Be A Lady Not A Tramp and took it over to Blasberg to sign. A photo was also essential... With twin I LIKE YOU! stickers. I apologised for the product placement but he just laughed, saying, "They're selling mints over there with my name on them." He wasn't lying.
Enrique Murciano and Lily Cole - a very tall couple.
My signed copy of Derek Blasberg's book.
