#1415 On racism

Dear friends,

After careful consideration, I have removed the Holy F*ck poster. If its presence on my blog offended you, I am sorry. At no time was it my intention to provoke or challenge anybody with the image; its purpose was solely to promote the party. It is important to note that I did not have any hand in designing the poster – it was put together by the guys from All Black Everything, who, as it happens, are of various ethnic backgrounds, including South African/Indian and African.

I strongly believe in the equality of all people, regardless of ethnic identity, gender, socio-economic background or religious affiliation. Unity is essential in the world, but unity in diversity is paramount.

Once again, apologies for any offense caused.

I LIKE YOU!

It's okay gaiz, the poster was made by black people!

I bet Isaac even has several black friends.

Bootybassanthems - I said 'not the best of taste'. However the entry we're both referring to was highly emotive and quite inaccurate... I'd be interested to see where it was informing people.

I'd not begrudge anyone the right to converse about it - I was merely indicating to Issac my opinion that the discussion had gone a little out of control when he was fending off fairly strong accusations of racism.

hmm I would agree with Bootybassanthems but, the person we are talking about held Isaac accountable as the perpetrator of creating the poster and because of that I think it was just an effort to boost blog ratings. The person who I wish not mention could have done a number of things to stop the poster being out there but choose to leave it up and out there in the realms of the distribution world because he new that it would be a great subject to blog about.

I don't think that's fair MJC. It's important to talk about the useof such images, and the discussion has doubtless caused a few people to think. It's an ignorant stance to see an offended person as an attention seeker. You agree it's in bad taste, so it does no harm to inform people why.

Get over it man! He is just responding to all the morons that have rolled this up into a big "crackers this crackers that" attack... Ironic how the people who would take the moral high ground and call racism and ignorance would launch such personal attacks on Isaac.

Everyone would much rather keep the cycle of hate going than just take a deep breath and come into the situation objectively. Sure, education and opinions are all good but most of what I have seen around this is surely from other motivations?

There is a quote "alcoholic - anyone who drinks more than you who you don't like" that I think sums up this situation very well.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.....

Don't worry Isaac! While the poster wasn't in the best of taste, there are a lot of people out there just waiting for a reason to be offended - and increase their blog traffic ;)
