This is just a quick note to say that I'm not returning to New Zealand on Friday as planned. Instead, I'm spending the summer right here in Paris. (Well the next six weeks at least.) I've picked up an enormous contract that requires me to write approximately 100,000 words in the next 48 days. I ummed and aahed about what to do: return to New Zealand, in doing so lose two days flying and another five days in Singapore hanging with Sheida, or stick around here in this apartment and get the work done. Paris vs Auckland. Summer vs winter. Freshness vs jetlag. So many variables! So little time! As you can imagine, it wasn't an easy decision to make.
I'm going to miss meals at Dizengoff, belgian biscuits at Bambina, late nights at 1885 and that indescribable feeling you get when you walk down Ponsonby Road and know every second person you pass. But sometimes you've gotta look at the bigger picture. Due to the larger-than-normal workload I'm faced with, my blogging may become a little irregular over the next six weeks. But I'm going to do my best to try and stay on top of it.
Just so you know, this is the view of the sun setting behind the Eiffel Tower, taken about 30 minutes ago from my balcony. The two below were taken about 25 and 20 minutes ago respectively (just so you could get a little time lapse perspective).
Also, there is nothing more pretentiously brilliant than using a season as a verb ie. I like to summer in Europe, don't you agree?
To bigger and better things!
I LIKE YOU!
