Yves Saint Laurent – the original troubled designer. Photo: Haw-lin 1. John Galliano-mania has gone about as far as it can go, with tens of thousands of mainstream news stories (it even made the 6:00pm rounds here in New Zealand), and every person with internet access sharing their opinions, thoughts and conspiracy theories on the matter. Rather than adding to the pile, here’s the best piece I’ve seen written thus far, from The New Yorker: “It has been nearly a decade since I wrote a Profile of Galliano for this magazine. I lost track of him long ago. But whenClick to Continue!

Emily Baker on the catwalk at Prada F/W 2011. Photos: tfs Emily Baker has just done what no female New Zealand model has done before (besides, perhaps, Kylie Bax in the 90s), walking a Prada ready-to-wear show in Milan. This is a great get for any model, but perhaps even greater if that model happens to be a fashion week freshman from Matamata. The 17 year old Kiwi newcomer has had a blinder of a season thus far, walking (among others) Marc Jacobs and Calvin Klein in New York; Christopher Kane and Giles in London; and D&G, Fendi and MaxClick to Continue!
Dempsey Stewart. All photos: Katherine Lowe The dopeness: Darn good models. New Zealand Fashion Week 2010 brought with it the best models we’ve seen since Abbey Lee Kershaw walked its hallowed runways back in 2006. My favourite three girls of the week were Australian Dempsey Stewart, Kiwi Ella Verberne and Lithuanian import Vilma Putriute. And special mention must go to Nom*D for encouraging Dempsey Stewart and boyfriend Jasper Seven to pash it up in front of the crowds at their show – Dunedin does it better.Ella Verberne. Vilma. Samantha Harris. Photo: Chic Management New Zealand Fashion Week is almost upon us! Only two more sleeps before the shows, the parties, the after-parties and the madness begins. It’s gonna be fun. Unlike the big fashion weeks overseas, we don’t have the pleasure of having hundreds of international models swarm our fair city hoping to score that career-making exclusive show. Nor do we have the Russell Marshes, the Calvin Kleins or the Pradas with the clout to launch them internationally. Nevertheless, every year anywhere between five and 15 foreign girls do make the trip over to Auckland. We’ve had someClick to Continue!
Photo: Karen Inderbitzen Waller Most of us are lucky to have just one good looking person in our family. Two, and fate was smiling. But three? Forget about it. Meet the Sevens. First there was Zippora, touted as New Zealand’s answer to Kate Moss; then Jasper (currently working up a storm internationally with his model girlfriend Dempsey Stewart); and now the Sevens can add another string to their model bow. Nine year old Cisco is the youngest child in the family and has just shot his first campaign – alongside big brother Jasper no less – for Crane Brothers. LensedClick to Continue!
